In Hawke’s Bay’s Public cemeteries, there is a wide range of options available for the burial or internment of ashes. It is important to select the cremation area that you wish for the ashes to be placed, before committing to a memorial, as bylaws limit what is allowed in each section. While many of the ashes areas require plaques (see Ashes Plaques) a number have provisions for more substansal memorials.Please see our trained staff, who will be happy to advise you on your options.

Upright cremation stones are a popular choice. They are smaller versions of full burial memorials, and are available in the same shapes and granites. Most public cemeteries in Hawkes Bay have an area for upright memorials. The cost of these memorials depends on the shape, granite and size, but most range from as little as $600 completed. Here are a small selection of finished cremation memorials. Also note, these size memorial can be used for burial in private cemeteries where there are no bylaws that govern the sizes.

Recumbent desks are also a popular ashes memorial. Some public cemeteries have areas that these desks are used in, for example Waipukurau, Takapau, Otane Cemeteries. These desks are also ideal for using when ashes are interred into existing family graves.
